Happy Valentine's Day To show our love of all our faithful customers the Book Club discount at City Lights just doubled! Book Club discount at City Lights just doubled! We're changing the name from Book Club to Charlie's Club in honor of Charlie, our cat, and of Charlie Chaplin, whose movie City Lights was Gary Carden's inspiration for naming the store. Charlie's Club gives you the option to receive store updates by mail or email, and starting today, for every ten new books purchased, you get $10 off the next new book purchase. For years the club discount was $5, but with big chain bookstores returning so many unsold books, publishers have been forced to raise prices faster than inflation alone would dictate. City Lights, your local, independent bookstore, is countering this trend by doubling the discount our repeat customers enjoy.
